LIA label

Certified by LIA®

This internationally recognised label demonstrates to readers that your e-book has been verified by accessibility experts and is fully compliant with global standards.

Accessible e-books: deliver excellence

Our mantra is “Born Accessible“: accessibility shouldn’t be an afterthought, but an integral part of your production process. This efficient approach ensures your content is inclusive from the start, creating higher-quality experiences for every reader. We offer a comprehesive suite of services to help you achieve and showcase this excellence, tailored to your specific needs.

Four steps to achieve excellence in accessibility

Our four-step process will help you develop content and services in line with international accessibility standards and legislation, resulting in the award of independent certification and the LIA label for your publications. Depending on where you are in your accessibility journey, you can choose individual steps from the process or combine them into a comprehensive, end-to-end solution.

1. Accessibility audit of your e-books

If you are at the start of your accessibility journey and you want to assess your situation. Our team of in-house experts will conduct a complete audit of your e-books and your production workflow. This involves:

  • Initial analysis to assess accessibility level. We will conduct a thorough assessment of your content accessibility level on your source files (InDesign) and output files (EPUB, PDF, HTML, Latex).
  • Detailed gap analysis report to support remediation. At the end of this comprehensive analysis phase, we will produce a complete and accurate report on source files and output files that lists the checks performed, identifies accessibility issues, and outlines the necessary corrections and improvements.

The report will support you in defining the roadmap and the steps needed to implement either a Born Accessible production workflow for the new titles or a remediation program for your catalogue.

2. Quality assurance of your e-book catalogue

If you have already started to produce accessible e-books and you want to be sure they are compliant. Once your team is equipped to produce accessible publications, ongoing quality check is essential.

To QA your process we will:

  • Perform accessibility checks on a selected set of sample files (EPUB, PDF, HTML files). These checks help you understand if accessibility is applied consistently on your catalogue (either internally or by your suppliers)
  • Provide detailed gap analysis reports for each e-book aimed at supporting remediation activities, updating internal guidelines, and workflows

This service is already used by international publishers across Italy, Portugal, Canada, Denmark, and the Netherlands. This is a continuous, scalable way to embed accessibility across your production workflows.
