Spain: a webinar about accessibility and its effects on the market

Events

Accessibility is increasingly one of the hot topics in international publishing. However, the entry into force of the European Accessibility Act, scheduled for 28 June 2025, does not yet imply the conversion of the publishing market to a fully accessible ecosystem.

In October 2024, the Survey on Analysis of Skills Gaps, conducted within the APACE project highlighted the industry’s shortcomings around accessibility. Similarly, the 2024 Accessible Ebook Barometer report by De Marque, a global distributor of ebooks and audiobooks to which Libranda, the leading distributor of Spanish-language digital content, belongs, also highlights significant gaps in ebook accessibility.

As June 2025 approaches, it is crucial that European publishers have the necessary resources and support to adapt to the required accessibility criteria.

The webinar

The webinar La legislación europea sobre accesibilidad y su efecto en el sector editorial, organized by FGEE (Federación de Gremios de Editores de España), aims to provide Spanish publishers with an overview of the new European accessibility regulations and their effects on the publishing market.

Cristina Mussinelli, Secretary General of the Fondazione LIA, will present data from the survey carried out within the Apace project. She will also provide an overview of how the publishing sector is preparing to be in line with the EAA requirements and how it is facing the challenges with the support and collaboration of Fondazione LIA. With her Arantza Larrauri, Market Manager Europe and Latin America for De Marque, and Daniel Molina.
