What’s next for European accessible publishing? The seminar’s video

Conferences

For the 2025 edition of the Frankfurter Buchmesse (October 15th – 19th), Fondazione LIA organized several events to promote the theme of accessibility in publishing, with the collaboration of international partners and in the framework of the APACE project.

During the professional meeting “Voices from the Inside: What’s Next for European Accessible Publishing?”, participants discussed how the European Accessibility Act has been implemented in different national contexts, four months after its entry into force.

During the 2024 edition of the Fair, again within the framework of APACE, LIA organized a seminar addressing how the publishing sector was preparing for the EAA. One year later, representatives of the publishing industry came together to discuss the progress made so far, the ongoing challenges, and the differences emerging among the various European countries.

The seminar

Porter Anderson, Editor in Chief of Publishing Perspectives, moderated the session held at the Frankfurt Studio. Alessandra Lucchetti, Deputy Director of the European Education & Culture Executive Agency (EACEA), opened the panel with greetings from the European Commission and highlighted the value of projects such as APACE. By fostering a transnational network, these initiatives facilitate the transfer and exchange of expertise among different stakeholders and help build stable collaborative relationships, thus contributing to the resilience and sustainability of the cultural sector.

This was followed by a dynamic and informal 30-minute conversation in which Cristina Mussinelli, Secretary General of Fondazione LIA, Kristina Kramer, Deputy Director for European and International Affairs at the Börsenverein des Deutschen Buchhandels, and Clémentine Guinebert, Head of the Digital Commission of the French Publishers Association, discussed the situation in Italy, Germany, and France, respectively.
