Accessibility is a central theme for digital publishing today. For this reason, the program of 2024 edition of the Frankfurter Buchmesse (October 16th – 20th) features numerous events addressing this topic, including some seminars organized by Fondazione LIA with the collaboration of international partners.
After a welcome and brief note of Anne Bergman-Tahon (Director, Federation of European Publishers), Richard Orme (Chief Executive, DAISY Consortium) explained the importance of this collaboration with Adobe, which makes possible the goal of making accessibility a common and widespread practice through the simplification of the ebook production process.
Stefanie Valdes-Scott (Europe Director for Policy and Government Relations Adobe) brought the point of view of Adobe, which is working with the expert group to incorporate the suggested changes into the next releases of the software. She then outlined a future roadmap of this collaboration.
During his presentation, Gregorio Pellegrino (Chief Accessibility Officer, Fondazione LIA, and technical lead of Accessible EPUB from InDesign Expert Group) underlined the relevance of the results achieved so far by this collaboration and he explained how they improve and simplify the work of publishers in practical terms.
