

LIA at the IAAP EU Accessibility 2025 Hybrid Event

The coming into force of the European Accessibility Act (EAA) requires that European companies, but also non-EU companies willing to sell within the EU market, are well aware of the requirements they must meet, from June 28th 2025, to be compliant with the EAA.
The Event
The International Association of Accessibility Professionals (IAAP) organizes the annual IAAP EU Accessibility 2025 Hybrid Event, two days of conferences and workshops focused on various aspects of the European Accessibility Act, applicable for everyone who wants to sell products or services in the European Union.
Some of the topics addressed are:
- Surveillance authorities from across the EU discuss EAA enforcement, penalties and documentation
- Banking services: best practices and new solutions when it comes to security vs accessibility, verification/ authentication
- E-commerce and UX aspects: how shopping experiences can be made accessible for all users
- Computers, smartphones and operating systems: content and comprehensibility
- E-books: requirements applicability
- TV and audiovisual media: personalisation and assistive technology
Gregorio Pellegrino, Chief Accessibility Officer at Fondazione LIA, will be the moderator of the round table related to e-books and requirements applicability, during which representatives from the e-book sector will discuss interpretation of accessibility requirements in different contexts, including possible limitations in educational material. With him the panelists: Shadi Abou-Sahra, Principal Accessibility Standards and Policy Manager, Amazon Device Accessibility, and Arvid Roos-Isaksson, Media & Communication Graduate.

The event is held in Brno, Czech Republic, at the Masaryk University on April 23-24, 2025. The first day is a member only, onsite only workshop. The second day is a hybrid event open to all. On the event’s official page you can find the full program and the information to participate.
